ARIZONA SMALL STREAM EXPLORATION -
As the sun begins to creep above the treeline, we are greeted with the day’s first light. While our accommodations for the evening lacked even the basic creature comforts, the panoramic views it provides in the morning are priceless. It is late summer in the desert and the heart of monsoon season. With this in mind, two anglers embark on a journey in pursuit of wild trout on an undisclosed stream in Arizona…
An angler fishes a large pool as he ponders the wonderment of what lies in the canyon ahead.
A small Rainbow Trout is fooled by a big dry fly.
A faint splash breaks the morning’s silence.
What these fish lack in physical size, they make up in overall beauty.
Like the conductor of a symphony, unique rock formations direct the water’s flow.
This little guy could not resist the allure of a small foam ant.
Even the skinniest water may hold fish.
A small fall cascades water to the creek below.
Clear water and a slow current require a delicate presentation.
Another Rainbow reveals itself.
The path less traveled.
Another “fishy” looking spot.
The only Brown Trout of the day.
With scenic views like this, fishing becomes a secondary bonus.
Looking up at the ridgeline as a summer monsoon rolls in.
So much water, so little time…
Nature’s perfect painted canvas.
One more, last cast.
An artful blend of color and texture.
